Ricoh designs its equipment and software with the goal of creating a more sustainable world. As such, our products are built to meet product compliance requirements including those presented on this page.

ENERGY STAR® and other energy-saving technologies

Many of our products have earned the coveted ENERGY STAR label, which means they meet the energy efficiency requirements set by the Environmental Protection Agency. You can see which ones received the honor, as well as review stats related to energy consumption, print/copy time, and more.

Ricoh USA has been an ENERGY STAR partner for more than 30 years. In 2014, we were honored to receive an “Excellence in Energy Efficient Product Design” award from the Coalition for Federal Procurement. This award recognizes an outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by designing energy-efficient products and educating consumers about energy efficiency.

We also participate in the SmartWay® program of the Environmental Protection Agency. SmartWay is focused on supply chain efficiency with the intent of reducing transportation-related emissions and environmental risk. With SmartWay’s help, we can measure, benchmark and improve the methods by which we ship products so we can route trucks in the most energy-efficient manner.

EPEAT: Use gold, silver, and bronze ratings to recognize green products

Ricoh is a charter member of the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT®), a program designed to help identify green imaging equipment and electronic devices. Established in January 2013, EPEAT also includes IEEE 1680.2 International Standards for a number of important environmental attributes for imaging equipment, such as:

Energy efficiency
Packaging
Consumable take-back programs
Reduction or elimination of environmentally sensitive substances

There are three levels of EPEAT status based on number of criteria met by each product. The majority of Ricoh products on the registry have achieved a “Gold” rating.

Gold

Meets all “Required” & over 75% of “Optional” criteria

Silver

Meets all “Required” & over 50% of “Optional” criteria

Bronze

Meets all “Required” criteria (33 criteria)

By engaging in EPEAT, Ricoh is further enhancing its complete portfolio of products and services to better manage and reduce environmental impact and cost, while improving productivity for our customers and creating shared value for our society. We continue to work closely with our business partners in order to evaluate and improve our products and services and to provide our customers with greener imaging equipment.
